Happy first day of fall! Here at CKYC, we are always looking for fun things to do in New England (on and off the water!) Here is a list of the top 10 fall activities we have put together:
1. The Fall Foliage in New England is something
you cannot experience anywhere else. So, this fall, appreciate the beauty surrounding you and take part in a foliage tour! They take place all over New England, but we love the Boston tour and the 88 mile driving foliage tour in Vermont.
2. Be a true New England fan, and cheer on one of our beloved teams: The Boston Red Sox or the New England Patriots! Tickets are reasonably priced, and they are always a great experience, full of die-hard fans. For a bit of history, take a tour of Fenway Park before the game begins. You’ll never believe what happened on our very own home field!
3. Charter a yacht in New England! From Boston to Newport and even in Maine, the air is fresh and there will hardly be any fog. Bring a sweater and enjoy the warm day sun – two or three hours will be a perfect amount of time on the yacht!
4. Sitting inside is something that you might not want to do during the warm months, but seeing a performing art in the fall is a great idea! From the Boston Ballet to different musicals and performances in Hartford, CT and Providence, RI you are sure to find something of interest in surrounding areas! We love Wicked, which is playing in Boston through the end of October.
5. Spend a day at the Yankee Candle Villagein Deerfield, MA or Williamsburg, VA. Both locations offer a beautiful drive, and a very unique experience. From candle making, food and beverage to entertainment, it will accommodate the entire family.
6. Looking for a group activity? A trip to a beer brewery is a great idea for all your friends! We especially like the Samuel Adams Tour in Boston and the Wachusett Brewing Company in Westminister, MA. Most brewery tours are either free or very inexpensive – either way it’s a day of fun and homemade Ale!
7. Apple picking is a New England staple. It is fun for all ages, and an inexpensive family event. Some great apple picking locations include , Pot Hill Orchard in Stow, MA, Bishop’s Orchards in Guilford, CT and Brooksby Farm in Peabody, MA. Don’t forget to make an apple pie after!
8. Pumpkin picking is another great activity for a group of friends or family. Pick your pumpkins at any local farm and bring it home for carving! Save the remnants and make a couple New England favorites – salty pumpkin seeds, pumpkin pie and pumpkin bread.
9. Make sure you attend the major fall fairs in New England. A few include the Big E (Springfield, MA), Durham Fair (Durham, CT), Deerfield Fair (Deerfield, NH), and Shaker Hill Apple Festival (Alfred, ME). Great events for all ages!
10. Relax on an overnight yacht charter with a few people you love. Enjoy great fall dishes like butternut squash bisque, pumpkin pie and a warm stew, and watch the beautiful ocean go by in the evening. Imagine a fall sunset on your own private yacht…
We hope you enjoy your fall! Remember: One Call, We Do It All!
