Dream Vacation in the middle of COVID-19

Husband and wife doctors achieve a dream vacation in the middle of the COVID-19 nightmare.

“I wasn’t expecting a miracle…”

They were like thousands of others in the medical profession; a husband and wife, both doctors, fighting the daily battle against the horrors of COVID-19; the only thing keeping them going: thoughts of the great trip they had planned with their three young adult children to beautiful France.

Then, as the coronavirus hit the world stage, their holiday plans were halted, rescheduled for 2021.  While the deposit was being held, their holiday was on hold. But the exhausted doctors decided they still needed a respite from the intense work they were both doing with Covid-19.

But there was a solution. This is where I came in.

While hotels, cruise ships and limited travel options in June were in lock-down, their savvy travel agent suggested they explore a vacation they never even thought of before; a yacht vacation.  The agent put us in contact with each other and the story begins.

When I spoke to the doctor/wife/mom/trip planner extraordinaire weeks prior to their first-time charter, she wanted to know how it worked. Where can we charter? Where does the boat go? Are we able to eat all our meals onboard?  My husband is a certified diver, can he dive?  Will our three young adult (ages 18-21) children have enough to do for one week?

Boxes ticked

During a week of sailing around some of the best dive sites in the world, our clients were to experience customized meals prepared and served daily onboard this all-inclusive vacation in St. Croix and St. John.

The USVI opened up to travelers on June 1st. St. Thomas, St. John and St. Croix were the only islands available to visit. Our happy clients decided to meet their chartered yacht with crew (which had to have a US crew and a vessel with US flag) in St. Croix. 52’ sail catamaran STOP WORK ORDER’s Captain Ryan and chef Dani, took them on a new adventure they had never imagined… until COVID times.

“This was our first time chartering a boat, and it was a last-minute trip since us other plans fell through due to the pandemic,“ said the doctor.

“As such, I was not expecting a miracle. I was happy just to get away. I can’t begin to explain how blown away I was by how wonderful this experience was.

“We were so impressed by the boat, which was simply perfect for our family. But the real magic was the crew. Ryan and Dani were just tremendous. How could we not have a fantastic time with such amazing people?

“The food was incredible and I never thought I could feel so pampered… I feel very blessed to have had the opportunity to have such a lovely trip during these crazy times.“

So, here’s is the punchline

Since their return on June 19th … the couple has booked their 2021 winter vacation in January on the same yacht!

This testimonial has been approved to share. It is a great discovery story of a family needing to escape the world crisis.

A yacht charter is by far the safest holiday still as ports are opening, and travel lodging restrictions remain in other places around the world.

Not everyone can – or wants to – buy a boat, but knowing that you do not need to be a Kardashian or royalty to experience the call of the sea, one might just explore the joys and advantages of private yacht charters.

New England is hot for even a long weekend and for some, “ocean medicine” can be had on your own sail or motor yacht charter.
