Cruising the Ionian Islands out of Corfu

Cruising the Ionian Islands out of Corfu

Having just spent four days in a small village 35 minutes from the historic Corfu town, I am in love with this island.

Other than the ideal port of embarking on your yacht vacation setting sail in the IONIAN Sea, it is worth combining a land adventure as well.

I am a firm believer in hiring an expert tour guide with personality, understanding of what the client wants to see and the true love of their country of origin.

Dimitris – Tour Guide Extraordinaire

Dimitris filled all requirements. As owner CorfuTaxiPrivateTours.gr he prides himself in efficiency as your guide. These photos were captured under his guidance on my 6 hour land tour.

Gouvia Marina, is located North of the main Corfu town. It is a security protected main port of embarking on your 50′ sailing Catamaran or a Classic 103′ Motor Yacht SUNCOCO.  It is a 20 minute taxi ride from the airport.

If you have time – choose a one way from Corfu to Kefallonia or Zaknthos (all accessible by 1 hour plane ride from Athens Airport)..

You may also consider cruising out of Lefkas onboard 68′ Sailing Yacht Helene.

August blows the Meltemi winds, according to my Greek Captains and both motor and sailing yachts offer this itinerary to clients.  It is well protected, unlike the popular islands of Mykonos and Santorini (where you just may get stuck with 30-45 gusts winds).   Inquire to more yachts that base out of this idyllic cruising area of Greece.
