S/Y AMAZING GRACE was awarded 1st Place in both the Entrée and Dessert categories at the 2019 USVI Charter Show Chefs' Competition by VIPCA

2019 USVI Charter Yacht Show Competition Winners

Congratulations to the Top Yacht Chefs, cocktail alchemists, yachts and crews who comprise the 2019 USVI Charter Show competition winners. We send thanks to everyone involved for taking their time and talents to this important yearly event in the US Virgin Islands. Having great food and beverages on your vacation are important to your enjoyment.

This year’s culinary theme: Caribbean Fusion

Chefs had to prepare a main dinner and a dessert using mystery ingredients in a surprise basket from Fruit Bowl and Imagination Farms:

Passion fruit, long eggplant grown in the Caribbean and microgreen radishes

Coordinator, judge and author of five Ship to Shore Cookbooks ,  Jan Robinson was joined by three fellow culinary judges, all from 5-star restaurants in St. Thomas. The pantheon included Chef Karri Foster from Azul Café, Chef David Benjamin (aka Chef Benji) from Blue 11, and Chef Kirsty Llewellyn from the Salt and Vinegar Bistro.

Captain Jan Robinson advised participating chefs when he/she can expect the judges to visit his/her boat. Judges are prompt.

Chefs are expected to prepare 2 dishes – one for tasting (and 4 forks, please), and the other for photography purposes.

Preparation should be done by the Cook/Chef as representative of a dish they would serve on charter.

Below is a list of winners by category. They represent the many chefs, crew and boats that will dazzle your palette and your senses on the very special vacation choice that is a yacht charter.
