USVI and British Virgin Islands Charter Yacht Show Culinary Competitions honor age-old food traditions that began in the 16th century BC! While we are a long way from 1600-1501 BC, here in the 21st century, many cooking ideals remain the same. Spices, citrus, nuts, and sugar (used only by the wealthy) were the main ingredients back then. Today, VIPCA Culinary Competition judges look for many of those same traditional concepts when judging the taste, smell, and presentation of this year’s entries.
The 2023 USVI Charter Yacht Show Culinary Competition on November 12th was coordinated by chef and spice enthusiast: Julius Jackson. Chef Jackson’s theme?
“Bring the Heat!”
